Reality-based martial art is a term used to describe a martial art system that is based on street practicality and application. A reality-based martial art system is ever-evolving to better suit common street scenarios and to better simplify its technique. A good reality-based system should be applicable regardless of a persons strength, size, sex, or previous experience.
Traditional martial arts are the ones you normally hear about: Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kenpo, Traditional Kung Fu styles, Jiu-Jutsu, all of which are great systems for different reasons but do not have the end goal of street preparation in mind. This is due to the general specialization that many traditional systems take. For example: Tae Kwon Do is known for teaching fast, flashy kicking techniques, Judo is known for its throwing techniques, Jiu-Jitsu for its grappling, etc. This differs from reality-based systems in that reality-based systems tend to teach from all positions and are focused on street survival. Traditional martial art systems are credited for the development of reality-based systems along with the experience and innovation of reality-based founders/instructors.
CQDT is simplified and taught in a way that is friendly for people of all experience levels. It makes no difference if you have martial arts experience. You do not have to be an athlete to learn CQDT, it is not flashy or fancy in its technique; you won’t need to be able to do splits to travel through the ranks.
You have one week to watch each class before it is replaced by the following week’s class. Ex: if class is posted Sunday June 15th, you have until Sunday June 22nd to view it, at which time the June 22nd class will replace the June15th class.
No, supplemental material will be archived for your reference on the web site. Feel free to reference this material any time to help answer questions.
On average, a student practicing weekly should be able to test every couple of months. You will be notified online when you are eligible to test. If you have specific questions, or concerns feel free to contact your instructor.
Programs can be made for women’s self defense, anti-kidnapping for boy scouts/girl scouts, and specialty ranges such as hand to hand combat, gun/knife control, bouncer training / control tactics, etc. Be as creative as you’d like. Any organization may request instruction of any type, for any length of time, especially for them. Example: your women’s organization wants a women’s self defense program based on what they think is likely to happen on the street. The organization pays for the martial art program, Instructor Jason films it weekly based on the requests of the members of your organization and his CQDT curriculum. All of your orgs members are given their own profiles to view the self defense program. Also, your org will be given its own hours to call Instructor Jason with questions.
